EU 27+ working meeting in the field of territorial cohesion and urban development
Working meeting in the field of territorial cohesion and urban development will be held 18 and 19 March in the Congress centre Brdo. The meeting is organized by the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning, the Spatial Planning Directorate, within the programme of Slovenian EU Council Presidency. The purpose of the meeting is to report on activities of the Member States and to define coordination and monitoring of implementation of activities in the field of territorial cohesion and urban development, resulting from the Action Programme for the Implementation of the Territorial Agenda of the EU, adopted at an informal ministerial meeting on territorial cohesion in Ponta Delgada in November 2007, and from the Leipzig Charter on Sustainable European Cities, adopted at an informal ministerial meeting on urban development in May 2007 in Leipzig. Draft materials for EU 27+ meeting of the Directors-General for territorial cohesion and urban development, held on 14 and 15 May 2008, will be discussed.
Participants of the meeting are representatives of the 27 EU Member States, representatives of three candidate countries and three hosting countries, and representatives of the European Commission, the European Parliament, the Committee of the Regions, the Economic and Social Committee and of other partners in the field of territorial cohesion and urban development.

Directors-General meeting of the EU 27+ on territorial cohesion and urban development
Meeting of the Directors-General for territorial cohesion and urban development will be held 14 and 15 May 2008 in the Congress centre Brdo. The meeting is organized by the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning, the Spatial Planning Directorate, within the programme of Slovenian EU Council Presidency. The purpose of the meeting is to approve the report on activities of the Member States and on coordination and monitoring of implementation of activities in the field of territorial cohesion and urban development. These are the activities performed on the basis of the Action Programme for the implementation of the Territorial Agenda of the EU, adopted at an informal ministerial meeting on territorial cohesion in Ponta Delgada in November 2007, and of the Leipzig Charter on Sustainable European Cities, adopted at an informal ministerial meeting on urban development in May 2007 in Leipzig.
Besides the Directors-General from the 27 EU Member States, the participants of the meeting are also representatives of three candidate countries and three hosting countries, and representatives of the European Commission, the European Parliament, the Committee of the Regions, the Economic and Social Committee and of other partners in the field of territorial cohesion and urban development.

European Forum on Architectural Policies
European Forum on Architectural Policies will be held in Ljubljana at the Faculty of Law of the University of Ljubljana, from 15 to 17 June 2008, on the theme of architectural renewal. The Forum is organized by the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning, the Spatial Planning Directorate, within the programme of Slovenian Presidency to the Council of Europe, together with the Ministry of Culture, the City of Ljubljana, the Faculty of Architecture, the Chamber of Architecture and Spatial Planning of Slovenia, the Architecture Museum of Ljubljana and the Society of Architects of Ljubljana. The emphasis of the Slovenian Forum is to present options to improve social, socio-economic, security, environmental conditions on the basis of architectural policy with improvement of quality of architecture in degraded urban areas and thereby contribute to a higher quality of living space, energy efficiency and attractiveness of the city for investments, work, living and tourism.
In the time of Slovenian EU Council Presidency, the Week of Architecture will take place from 15 to 22 June 2008 in Slovenia under the auspices of the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning, the Spatial Planning Directorate.

Accompanying Events
Seminar on the implementation of the Alpine Convention and its implementing protocols: »Energy-efficient construction with regard to adjustments to climate change in the Alpine region«
Seminar will be held from 29 to 30 May 2008 in the Community of Brda on the Dobrovo Castle. The purpose of the seminar, which representatives of the European Union, the Alpine Convention, the contracting States, experts in the fields of energy-efficient construction, climate change, population and culture will participate to, is to point out the importance of integrated approaches for ensuring efficient solutions in Alpine region from the prespective of creating better living conditions, reducing the consequences of climate change and providing higher energy efficiency. Good practice examples will also be presented. Experience exchange and extension of good practice as well as understanding of the goals of the Alpine Convention are the key factors for implementation of the Population and the Culture Declaration and Declaration on Climate Change. Results of the seminar will be published within the publication “Report on implementation of the Alpine Convention”. A translation into four languages of the area of the Alpine Convention and into English will be provided.

Seminar on the ESPON programme, 2 - 3 July 2008, Portorož
Seminars on the ESPON programme are held twice per year, normally in the State presiding to the EU Council. Seminar in Portorož will be focused on the results of the ESPON programme, use and capitalization of findings of the projects, support by forming European territorial developmental policies and monitoring of territorial developmental trends.
