The newsroom is intended for the media, as well as for any other interested parties. In this section the Ministry publishes current press releases and a calendar of events (including events on International Environment Days), posts notices of press conferences and invitations to participate in the drafting of regulations within the competence of the Ministry, and so on. Photographs taken at various meetings, lectures and visits are also posted here.

The Public Relations Service performs tasks relating to awareness raising, communications projects, relations with non-governmental organisations and other interest groups, and media relations. The basic goals of the Service are:

• to provide the public with easy access to information;
• to develop different forms of awareness-raising and training for all social groups as a basic requirement for the development of environmental and ethical awareness, as well as of values and responsible attitudes toward the environment; and
• to provide communication support to the Ministry.
