Light Pollution


Light pollution in the environment is the emission of light which increases the natural light of the environment and causes disturbing light and the feeling of glare to human eyesight. Because of this it threatens the safety of traffic, because of direct and indirect radiation towards the sky, it disturbs the life or the migration of birds, bats, insects and other animals, it disturbs the natural balance in protected areas, it disturbs professional or amateur astronomic observation, or with the radiation towards the sky it unnecessarily uses electric energy.

The legal regulation concerning light pollution in Slovenia is represented by the Decree on limiting values of the light pollution of the environment.
