The bulk of events are held at museums and galleries. The 17th Days of European Cultural Heritage, organised by the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia, are dedicated to Jože Plečnik, the most important Slovenian architect and one of the 20th century's major neo-classical architects. Half a century after his death, the work he left behind still makes him an indelible part of Slovenian cultural memory.
His architecture, rich in different forms and spiritual content, is an attempt at providing answers to fundamental questions about man's dwelling, such as those related to space, the architectural shell, light, and the use of noble materials, which are nowadays an almost unattainable ideal. His work has been and continues to be an invaluable source of ideas for generations of architects.
